Vinted Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.

Social Media Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
