Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected crossover event that challenges traditional predictions, the game developer has revealed an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The plot presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.
The adventure concentrates on "strange tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana alongside several artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
